Fly-Mommy versus San Fran’s Triple Threat DJs

While I have been living in the Bay Area since June, I really haven’t ventured out to check out the night life. Being the music lover that I am, however, I knew that wouldn’t last too much longer.  So, this past weekend I decided to pull myself together and hit the scene. When it comes to knowing what’s going on in a city Twitter has been quite handy over the past few years but most especially necessary now because I know very few people here.

Over the past few weeks I began following a few local DJs, club hosts, and promoters to see what I could dig up. One person in particular, Fran Boogie (@FranBoogie), posted about a few parties that peaked my interest so this past weekend I decided to invite my co-worker out with me to see what San Fran had to offer.

First off, let me just say the scene in San Fran is “different,” not at all like the East Coast, a very eclectic crowd and very laid back. People are very much there for the music, not at all there to be seen. I like that. Not to say that I don’t love my East Coast folks. But, to see people actually dancing at a night club (outside of the House Music scene) was refreshing. And the music! DJs Apollo, ShortKut (@Shortkut), and Vinroc (@Vinroc), the “Triple Threat DJ’s” really moved the crowd. I was very happily impressed.

All in all, my first official venture out into San Francisco’s night life was a ball (as you can see in the pic) and I am looking forward to exploring more of the night life and the rest of what the Bay Area has to offer.
